HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - The Ohio State Special Olympics Summer Games is being held in Columbus this weekend.

And just like the international games, the Olympic torch has been traveling through the state.

Members of law enforcement from across Hancock County gathered Wednesday for the law enforcement torch run.

Since June 15th, the special Olympic torch has been criss-crossing northwest Ohio.

Wednesday's leg started in Rossford, went through Bowling Green and North Baltimore and finished the day in Findlay. The flame was carried by a member of local law enforcement or their families the whole way.

These men and women are more than happy to help carry the torch to Columbus to honor those who will be competing.

"I think it's such a positive event because it's encouraging to see those special Olympians out there trying their hardest to do their best in their particular sport. And if you look at those people who maybe have some challenges or some disabilities, if they're going to go our there and give it their best, it's nothing for us to go out and run a few miles to support their cause," said Lt. Matt Crow, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Findlay post.
