PERRYSBURG -- Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a child around 5:45 Tuesday afternoon in the Riverford subdivision.
Police say the man drove up in a silver pickup truck. He approached a 10-year-old boy on a bike and told the child to get in. The kid screamed and rode off to a friend's house to call his parents.
Police say the boy did the right thing but that parents need to take precautions.
"Obviously if the parents can keep an eye on the children, that's great. If not, if they know they can be with another child and watching, you know, the buddy system. In this day and age cell phones are excellent to use and have," says Officer Mark Lepkowski.
Police say it's crucial to get a good description and that a license plate is best. The suspect in this case is described as a white male in his 50's with brown, shaggy hair. He was driving a "smaller," "beat up" two-toned silver pickup truck.
