COLUMBUS, OH (WTOL) - Bob Evans has halted its partnership with Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer as a response to the coach being put on paid administrative leave by the university.

Meyer is on paid administrative leave after reports arose that appeared to contradict his assertion that he did not know receivers coach Zach Smith had been accused by his now ex-wife of abuse.

Meyer was to be part of a new Bob Evans ad campaign in which he was the first "Head Breakfast Coach" for the restaurant chain. Ads featuring Meyer were pulled from the restaurant's website.

The restaurant posted about its decision to part ways with Meyer in a tweet Thursday.

Ex-Ohio State assistant coach Smith was arrested on charges of alleged felonious assault of his then-wife Courtney Smith in 2015.

Smith's ex-wife revealed pictures with her injuries that she says she sustained from altercations with the former Ohio State coach and showed text messages that she said were from Urban Meyer's wife Shelley alerting her to the abuse.

Smith was fired right before Big Ten Media Days and was replaced by former Buckeyes wideout Brian Hartline on an interim basis.
