Springfield alum immediately eligible to play UT football

Springfield High School graduate Bryant Koback will be able to play football right away this season at the University of Toledo.

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Springfield High School graduate Bryant Koback will be able to play football right away this season at the University of Toledo.

Koback spent last season at Kentucky and sat out as a redshirt freshman.

He moved home to be closer to his mother, who was having health issues.

The NCAA gr anted Koback a waiver so he didn't have to sit out a season after transferring.

Koback was a three-star running back coming out of high school.

As a junior at Springfield, he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 31 touchdowns. His senior season, he had over 1,000 yards in four games, but suffered a season-ending leg injury in week five.

Koback's joins a crowded backfield for the Rockets that includes Shakif Seymour, Art Thompkins, Nevone McCrimmon and Nicholas Sims.
