Man safe after canoe overturns in fast-moving Maumee river

The man ended up on the flooded grounds of a horse farm near Buttonwood Park.

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - A man is safe after being rescued from the high and fast moving Maumee River on Saturday.

The Sentinel-Tribune is reporting that the man, who has not been identified, was canoeing on the Maumee River when he became separated from his canoe after it overturned.

The river overflowed its banks and the man ended up on the flooded grounds of a horse farm near Buttonwood Park.

The man was able to grab a tree on the farm and was able to climb to safety.

Officials from Maumee and Perrysburg Township helped with the rescue.
