Terra festival features student, internationally known artists

Digital, fine and performing arts will be on display at Terra State Community College in Fremont through Sunday April 13.

FREMONT, OH (Toledo News Now) - Digital, fine and performing arts will be on display at Terra State Community College in Fremont through Sunday April 13.

The Celebration of the Arts Festival showcases work from students in Terra's Communications and Arts programs, but visitors will also have the chance to view artwork from some internationally known artists as well.

The art displays are free to the public during normal college hours, and special events on the weekend cost $10.

Three international artists, illustrators Chris Seaman and Dave Leri, and photographer Travis Lewis have work on display during the festival and will take part in an art panel discussion on Saturday April 12.

The festival is also student run on both the business and publicity side.

School leaders say it is important to offer opportunities for young artists to not only express their artistic side, but to use their talents in practical scenarios as well.

"If a student has passion and they like being an artist at some level, what we want them to do is come to the college and we want them to experience what they can do with their creativity to also help benefit the communities and the businesses and the industries in the area that they live," said Terra Dean of Business, Communications and Arts Michael Shirtz.
