SANDUSKY COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) - A local family is still searching for answers in the death of their son, Jake Limberios, and a popular television show may help them with that.
A grand jury has been meeting behind closed doors in Fremont since last week to determine if someone should be charged in Jake's death. His father Mike has been there, too, waiting for any details to come to light.
Limberios hopes the grand jury will see that his 19-year-old son Jake did not take his own life in March of 2012, as the coroner ruled his death. Jake's parents believe someone else in the Sandusky County home he was at fired the gun.
Thursday and Friday at 4 p.m., Jake's parents will tell their story to Dr. Phil McGraw on WTOL 11. They go through what happened and sit on set with two witnesses who maintain they did not fire the gun.
"There was an accident that happened that night, you guys," said Brittany, one of the witnesses on the show. "And that was your son accidentally shooting himself. He did it."
But Mike and his wife have a different opinion of what happened that night.
"We don't think that these kids are telling the truth," he said.
We're told Dr. Phil convinces the witnesses to take a polygraph test to get to the bottom of things. The Limberios family attorney, Dan McGookey, says the show could play a role in the investigation.
"Whether they will, you know, show part of the show to the grand jury members," McGookey said. "They could do that, I believe, if they wanted to. Whatever they do, I have no idea."
The results of the witnesses' polygraph tests will be revealed on Friday's show, bringing a dramatic conclusion to the two-day TV event.
