Water line replacement slows traffic in Rossford

Construction on several old water lines is underway in Rossford, causing some major traffic jams at Dixie Highway and Lime City Road.

ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) - Constructionon several old water lines is underway in Rossford, causing some major trafficjams at Dixie Highway and Lime City Road.

Thenew pipes being installed will the fix red and rusty water that many people inthe area have dealt with for years. But the construction won't be finisheduntil April of 2014, and it has brought part of Dixie Highway down to just onelane of traffic.

Eventually,crews will make their way down to East Boundary Street in Perrysburg. Officialsfrom the Northwestern Water and Sewer District say the project costs about $2.6million and replaces water lines that haven't been touched since the 1920s.

"Itprobably will benefit everybody," said Cheryl Kern, a resident. "I'd like tosee our water bills go down, they're quite high."

Theproject isn't expected to lower water bills, but it will make the waterclearer.
