Adrian fire crews train on Jaws of Life

Adrian Fire crews got a firsthand look at how the Jaws of Life work on Wednesday. Thankfully no one had to get hurt for crews to get the practice.

ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) - Adrian Fire crews got a firsthand look at how the Jaws of Life work on Wednesday. Thankfully no one had to get hurt for crews to get the practice.

Crews trained on the tool Wednesday using a staged accident.

"It gives them some idea of how they will come apart and how they can get the people out safely," said Adrian Fire Chief Paul Trinka.

Fire crews say taking the extra time to train on the equipment can make all the difference in an emergency situation.

"It's very helpful. I mean we don't get a lot of chances to do it so when we can actually go through it and go slow, really try new techniques, it really helps a lot," said firefighter Jordan Nelson.
