Dozens of trees have been marked for removal along River Road in Rossford, in order to replace vintage water lines.

ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) - The tree line drive on River Road in Rossford could soon change. Dozens of trees have been marked for removal, but not if residents can help it.

Officials at the Northwestern Water and Sewer District say many of the trees were marked prematurely, and not all of them will be cut.

Nearly all the massive trees have been growing along River Road for years. Many are taller than power lines, but now have been marked with an "X," to be cut down to make room for new water lines. The vintage lines are from the 1930s and will be replaced with 24-inch lines.

People who live nearby agree the lines need to be replaced, but disagree with cutting down trees to do it.

"I believe cutting down trees anywhere is a problem, and take away from a scenic view, especially of River Road," said resident Darla Hufford.

There is still no word on when the tree line view of River Road will change.
