Hancock Co. cultivating new industrial park

Hancock County officials are working on plans for a possible industrial park north of Findlay.

FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) - Hancock County officials are working on plans for a possible industrial park north of Findlay.

The distribution company Ohio Logistics is planning to expand their operations in that area. That expansion could be the catalyst for even more economic growth in the county.

Township Road 99 is referred to as Distribution Lane. Part of the land there has been considered by the county for years as the site of their future industrial park.

"Our industrial park that we've had since the early '80s is completely filled up now," said Tony Iriti, director of Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development.

With the Ohio Logistics expansion, new sewer lines, roads and curbs will need to be built, so county officials decided to upgrade the entire park.

"This will give us an area we can point to, and it would be virtually shovel-ready," said Iriti.

Officials say the site should be prime real estate, with its proximity to I-75 and the CSX Intermodal in North Baltimore.

"Once you get that first shovel turned, so to speak, the other folks look at it and say, 'These folks are real serious,' and it becomes a park," Iriti said.

County commissioners still need to approve the tax increment financing needed to fund the $2 million phase one of the project.
