Toledo nightclub closed for good after shooting

A new Toledo nightclub is shutting its doors already after a shooting over the weekend.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A new Toledo nightclub is shutting its doors already after a shooting over the weekend.

Metropolis, at 2600 Sylvania Avenue near Douglas, opened about three weeks ago.

Shots were fired during a private party over the weekend, and now owners say they are shutting the doors for good.

Neighbors in the area are happy to hear it.

"That nightclub is in between two schools and a church," said a resident who wished to remain anonymous. "Whoever thought of that idea, to bring a nightclub in a residential neighborhood, I think, didn't think about it too much."

Two men, Dalon Clark and Corvin English, were arrested in connection with the shooting. A police report says two handguns and drugs were retrieved from Clark's vehicle.

The neighborhood block watch found out about the shooting and took it to Facebook.

"We found out that Metropolis had a page themselves on Facebook," said the neighbor. "We found that page, voiced our opinion, and then after that, we got the response from the owners."

The owners posted a statement to their Facebook page that said, "We are shocked and outraged at what took place."

They stated their next endeavor will be a family friendly restaurant, and the doors will be closed by 11 p.m.
