(Toledo News Now) - An Oregon sergeant charged with drunk driving has been found guilty, but remains on the force.
Sgt. Antonio Castillo, 45, pleaded no contest in Toledo Municipal Court to reduce his charge to reckless operation.
Back in March, Castillo was off duty when he was arrested on Miami Street near Interstate 75 after a state trooper saw him driving erratically. Castillo refused a breath and field sobriety test, so he was arrested and charged with OVI.
On Monday, Castillo was sentenced to three days in an intervention driving program, fined $200 in court costs and placed on probation until the end of October. However, those aren't the only consequences he could face.
"In this case, if he's found guilty of departmental charges, he will face some pretty strong sanctions, in addition to what was handed down by the Toledo Municipal Court judge," explained Oregon Police Chief Mike Navarre.
Navarre said administrative charges will proceed and Castillo will have a disciplinary hearing soon to determine what his punishment will be within the department.
