Local salesman on Jeep: They’ve stepped the bar up

Made in Toledo, the new Jeep Cherokee has those in car sales excited to start selling the new SUV in just a few months.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Made in Toledo, the new Jeep Cherokee has those in car sales excited to start selling the new SUV in just a few months.

The new 2014 Jeep Cherokee should make its appearance at the end of May. Not only did Toledo make the new SUV, but it's also going to be one of the first to see it on the market.

"It's a sense of pride," said Jon Jurkiewicz, a salesman at Grogan's Towne. "Same thing with the Wrangler. We get a chance to say, 'Hey, it's from Toledo!' And it's something that we can stand behind, and it's keeping our people here working."

The Cherokee is expected to get 31 miles per gallon, and will replace the popular Liberty, which has been gone for about eight months. Grogan's Towne believes the new Jeep will bring in big numbers.

"The Liberty was a good selling car for us," said Denny Amrhein, managing partner at Grogan's Towne. "The new Toledo-built Cherokee is going to probably take us from about eight [sales] a month to, I'm figuring on the low side, 20-25 a month."

You can expect to pay at least $25,000 for the new Jeep, but Jurkiewicz says it's well worth the money.

"They've stepped the bar up with this one," he said. "The front end looks completely different than anything they've ever come out with…and Toledo's going to be one of the first cities to see it and I think they're going to be really happy with it."
