Corinth St. residents want city to clean up neighborhood

Some people living near the former site of the Libbey High School are complaining about their neighborhood becoming a dumping ground, and they want the city to clean up the area.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Some people living near the former site of the Libbey High School are complaining about their neighborhood becoming a dumping ground, and they want the city to clean up the area.

"I'm very frustrated," said Cynthia Rafferty." There's several houses with little kids and they play down here and it's gross."

Rafferty doesn't like that trash is being dumped on vacant lots near her home.

"I don't live in a landfill. I don't live that way and I'm not going to live that way," she said.

Others, including Greg Canales, share that frustration.

"It's getting bad," Canales said. "If you look around, everybody throws garbage out here and we don't know who does it at night."

Besides trash in vacant lots, they're also complaining about old tires and other junk piling up in an alley area. They're hoping calls made to the city will spark a response and a total clean-up.

"We pay our taxes, and I expect something to be done," Rafferty said.
