BELLEVUE, OH (Toledo News Now) - BELLEVUE, OH (WTOL) – Folks in Bellevue are abuzz after school leaders announced Tuesday they were suspending all future dances after some racy pictures surfaced from last week's homecoming dance at Bellevue High School.

School leaders say the style of dancing that took place at the dance is simply too inappropriate for school functions.

As a result, officials say they are taking a very aggressive approach after by suspending futures dances until they can find a solution to the dirty dancing problem.

A local newspaper posted pictures from the dance on its Facebook page, but removed them at after Bellevue City Schools Superintendent Kim Schubert asked for them to be taken down.

However, a WTOL viewer saved the pics and sent them to the station. They were simply too racy to show on TV or even online.

A senior at Bellevue High School, who wishes to remain anonymous, says she's not surprised about the pictures.  She says the dancing at school formals is provocative and sometimes even uncomfortable.

"It's a little bit disconcerting seeing some of the girls are wearing dresses that are extremely short," she said. "It's really low cut. Some of the guys are really inappropriate about it. They take advantage of that… It's a lot of hormonal teenagers getting together. It's very up close and personal,."

Superintendent Kim Schubert declined WTOL's request for an interview, but did release the following statement:

I feel that it is our obligation as an educational organization to teach our students ethical values, self respect and the respect of others.  I do not condone inappropriate dancing at our school sponsored dances and it will not be tolerated.  We will work with our staff, students and parents to collaboratively provide an atmosphere free of inappropriate behavior at all of our school events, including school dances.  All dances at Bellevue High School are suspended until all parties have worked together to set clear expectations for student behavior and enforce the expectations so that all actions are in the best interest of our student body.

Parents say they support the district's decision and say parents should also be held accountable for the kid's actions.

"Absolutely -- they need to know. Obviously, they're buying these dresses for their daughters," said Bellevue parent Liz Widman.

Colleen Smith, another parent, agrees and says she thinks some of the dresses are very revealing. She also believes there should be a dress code for school functions.
