LAKE TOWNSHIP, OH (WTOL) - Rain showers didn't slow things down for hundreds of volunteers cleaning up around Lake High School.

With rakes and buckets, students and community members picked up everything from concrete chips to metal poles. "I've been trying to get over here," said one student. "This is where I want to be. This is my school."

While cleaning up on Friday, volunteers were greeted by a fleet of ten school buses that are on loan from Columbus City Schools.

Additionally, tired workers got a surprise visit from comedian Mark Curry, best known from the TV show "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper," who heard about the devastation while he was in town for a comedy show.

Both became welcome gifts after days of non-stop work and non-stop worry for so many recovering from the tornadoes. "We're just drained," said one volunteer. "Seeing the school buses come in was a big lift. Finally, something good is happening. But then you turn around and look at the school. My daughters don't have a school right now."

Volunteers say it was a day to look toward the future. "It's actually been really good. People have been great," said one volunteer. "I don't want to say it's been fun, because it's not fun to see this, obviously. But it's been a good experience."
