Does it Work: Two potty training products earn good grade

Two devices promise to make the task of potty training go more smoothly.

(WTOL) - Getting toddlers potty trained is not always the easiest task, so we sent two training products to a daycare to see if they work.

Testers Serenity and Martez, both two years old, have not had much luck keeping their bottoms dry.

"Martez is full of energy and it takes a lot to keep him on task," said one of his instructors.

However, maybe the Potty Pony Pals, specially designed underwear that comes with an animated DVD, can help make potty training more successful.

The Potty Flip, a disposable cardboard potty that makes potty time anytime, was also reviewed.

First, the kids followed the product instructions and quietly watched the product DVDs without any distractions.

We left the Potty Pony with Serenity's mom to see whether the method would work for two and a half weeks.

Martez tried out the Potty Flip right on the playground. He let the teachers know he was ready to go and used the Potty Flip porta potty. All instructors had to do was wrap it up and throw it away.

The mom who reviewed Potty Pony Pals for two weeks says her daughter loved them. "She watched the movie all the time. She liked it. It made her use the bathroom," she said.

And she even her daughter even remembered to wash her hands. Her only complaint was that mom had to keep washing her one pair of panties. "They need to sell... a couple in a packet," she said.

In all, both products worked for these children and earned an A. Both are available on numerous websites and range in price.
