Toledo Express Airport reopens after being closed due to plane stuck in snow drift

Toledo Express Airport closed Monday night after a plane slid into a snow drift and got stuck.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - Toledo Express Airport is now reopened after it closed Monday night when a plane slid into a snow drift and got stuck.

Allegiant airline 2117, was attempting to takeoff to Orlando when the incident occurred. A passenger told WTOL, that they have been on the plane since 6:44 p.m.

Airport crews took several hours to remove all 121 passengers from the plane carefully.

A spokeswoman from Allegiant said earlier that the airline was working to send a replacement aircraft so that passengers would still arrive to Sanford Monday night, however the replacement never arrived.

Instead, passengers were offered hotel vouchers.

Food was also provided to the passengers as they waited.

There are no injuries and no damage has been done to the plane.

The plane was towed, in addition to the airport being closed so that staff could evaluate the condition of the runway.

A flight from Charlotte is still expected to arrive later Monday night.
