Tiffin prepares for heavy weekend snowfall

The southern end of our viewing area is expected to see some of the heaviest snowfall this weekend, and the city of Tiffin is preparing.

TIFFIN (WTOL) - The southern end of our viewing area is expected to see some of the heaviest snowfall this weekend, and the city of Tiffin is preparing.

The Mayor Aaron Montz said all city crews will be on call this weekend to alternate shifts while driving city plows.

They have also established potential warming shelters through the United Way and local churches for the forecasted cold that will follow the snowfall.

The city is looking into declaring a snow emergency at the beginning of the snow fall to make it easier for crews.

“So, if you have a vehicle parked on the street, especially downtown, it could be days before that vehicle is able to get out of that spot. Because you have all that snow that hardens up, and it’s next to impossible to get your vehicle out of there,” said Montz.

The mayor says for residents to stay up to date on the city’s decisions during the snowfall to follow the city’s social media accounts.
