CHICAGO (WOIO) -

Cleveland Indians pitcher Josh Tomlin takes the mound for Game 3 with two wins under his belt this postseason, after beating both the Red Sox and Blue Jays and giving up a total of three runs in two starts.

But he has added incentive: His 57-year old father, Jerry, was paralyzed from the chest down following an illness in August. MLB reported that it was due to a rare condition involving his blood vessels on his spinal cord called arteriovenous malfunction.

It's not known if he'll walk again. Tomlin is very close to his family and says he talks to his parents every day.

"It means a lot. He hasn't been to game in quite awhile and it wasn't looking like he was going to get to come to a game at all," Tomlin said during his World Series news conference Thursday night.

"So to have him here, just to be able to see him, is most what I'm looking forward to, but the fact that we can experience the World Series together is pretty neat."

The Tomlin family is in Chicago, just a week after Jerry was released from a rehabilitation center.
