UPDATE: Propane shortage gets a little worse

(Toledo News Now) -

It'sbeen weeks since the state of Ohio started running low on propane. Thousands ofcustomers and retailers were hoping the problem would be resolved by now.

"It'sgotten a little bit worse," said Justin McVicker, from Reliance Propane andFuel Oil. "Here locally, BP, we pull six loads a week, usually. We're down toone or two. So they were at 50 percent, now we're down to about a third…We justrecently purchased gas from Louisiana, so that's how bad it's getting aroundhere."

Truckersare hauling what they can, but weather conditions are making it tough to getthe wheels on the road. The shortage has led to extremely high bills andless-than-happy customers.

"They'renot happy with the price and neither are we," McVicker said. "I just want tomake sure everyone knows we're not gouging anyone."

Pricescan vary depending on when you locked in your supply.

"Everyoneis just hoping for the best," McVicker said.

Heand other retailers are asking customers to conserve where they can. That'sproving to be a tall order this winter. We have some suggestions on waysyou can save here, or you can check out our slideshow with ideas on howto stay warm.
