3 things to know ahead of Alert Day Saturday | Heavy rain, strong storms predicted

Heavy rain, minor flooding and strong storms could reach the Toledo region Saturday afternoon.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The WTOL 11 Weather team has issued an Alert Day for Saturday as strong storms will be possible into the afternoon on Saturday.

Here are three things you should know ahead of the storm.

1. TIMING

As an approaching cold front nears, the timing for storms will be from 2 - 9 p.m. Saturday.

2. WHAT'S EXPECTED

During that time, the strongest of storms will be able to produce gusty winds and heavy downpours. There is an isolated chance for small hail.

3. IMPACT

Due to the storm threat, outdoors events like graduation parties and local events will have to work around the storms.  Those with campsite reservations will also need to check the WTOL 11 Weather app frequently.

Make sure to seek shelter inside a sturdy building if you have outside plans.

A few rain showers will linger into early Sunday morning. Cooler, dry and less humid weather is expected on Sunday afternoon, with highs falling back into the low 70s.

Stay up to date of the storm threat on air, online and on the WTOL 11 Weather app.
