ALERT DAY Monday could bring severe winds, hail, tornadoes | 3 things to know

NW Ohio and SE Michigan see strong or severe thunderstorms this evening. The storms would bring strong to severe winds, rain and possibly large hail and tornadoes.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan may experience strong or severe thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday.

Northwest Ohio is at a "moderate" risk for a severe thunderstorm — four out of five on the threat scale.

Here's what you need to know ahead of the storm.

TIMELINE

Severe storms may be possible from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m.  

The risk will likely be in two possible waves this evening and overnight.  

The first wave is more questionable, near and after dark. 

The second round of storms would follow after 11 p.m.

THREATS

If these storms materialize, there will the be the risk of damaging and gusty winds as well as localized flooding.  

There is the chance of winds gusting over 70 mph in some of the strongest storms. 

Power outages and wind damage will be the main concerns. 

The atmosphere could also be favorable for a few tornadoes in addition to torrential downpours and localized flooding.

FLOODING

There is an elevated flooding risk Monday night due to repeated torrential downpours.

Rain totals are expected well over 1 inch.
