TOLEDO, Ohio — Two Toledo police officers have been released from the hospital after being involved in a traffic accident.
Toledo police initially responded to the scene of a pedestrian struck on Dorr St. late Friday night. The male pedestrian suffered unknown injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where he later died. His identity is being withheld until notification of next of kin.
The driver involved in the incident was unharmed and not taken into custody. According to police on the scene, they do not suspect alcohol to be a factor.
While on the scene of the pedestrian struck, a stationary but occupied Toledo police SUV was hit by another car shortly after 11:30 p.m. The SUV spun due to impact. The two officers in the TPD SUV and the driver of the car were transported by EMS to a local hospital.
Both officers were released from the hospital and are expected to recover. The extend of the injuries of the other driver is unknown.
