HURON COUNTY, Ohio — EDITOR'S NOTE: The attached video originally aired on Oct. 20, 2021.

Two women are dead following a two-car crash on Old State Road in Huron County on Monday.

The incident occurred just before noon at Boughtonville Road in Huron County's Ripley Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Drake Lucas Reed, 25, of Sandusky was heading northbound on Old State Road with 38-year-old Timbra Deann Conley and a 2-year-old child as passengers.

At the same time, Marcia Nicole Barnett, 31, of Greenwich was driving westbound on Boughtonville Road. Barnett had one passenger in her vehicle, 39-year-old Elizabeth Biddle of Detroit, at the time.

Reed ran a stop sign at the intersection of Old State and Boughtonville roads, hitting Barnett's car, the patrol said. Both vehicles reportedly went off the north side of the roadway after the crash.

Neither Reed nor Conley were wearing seatbelts, the patrol said, and both were ejected from the vehicle. Conley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Barnett and Biddle were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Barnett had to be extricated from her vehicle by mechanical means and died at the hospital on Oct 25. Biddle was taken to the hospital with possible injuries.

According to OSHP, the 2-year-old child in Reed's vehicle was in a car seat that was not properly secured. He was taken to the hospital with possible injuries.

Reed was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Failure to yield and unsafe speed are suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assisting agencies on the scene included Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Willard Fire/EMS, North Central EMS, Mercy Life Flight, the Huron County Coroner’s Officer, and A & M Towing.
