LUCAS COUNTY (WTOL) - Not much will surprise Caroline Dayton this weekend at the OHSAA State Golf Tournament.

She's been here before. As a sophomore and Junior, she made the trip to States, but didn't leave with the ultimate prize. She's hoping that experience will help her this season.

"It definitely helps to have experience, I think," said Dayton. "I know just being there the first two years, it's definitely a bigger scene, there are a lot better players. Just having that experience, I don't have to worry about nerves being down there, I can just play and not have to worry about being on that stage."

In terms of real-life golf experience, Dayton is a newcomer to the sport. She didn't start playing until she was in eighth grade. But she's worked hard this past summer to improve her game.

"I've been playing bigger tournaments," said Dayton. "Just to get more experience playing in these bigger tournaments. This is definitely the year to do it, it's my last year. It's golf, so you can never really say what's gonna happen, so that's the goal, to go down there, play well and see what we can do."

After high school, Dayton won't stop playing. She just recently committed to play Division I College golf at Loyola Chicago.

"It's been a little bit of a crazy summer," says Dayton. "The recruiting process can be a little bit stressful at times. I think it was a lot more negative sometimes this summer than it was a positive. There was a lot of pressure to play well in these tournaments. I reached out, and she (Loyola Coach) was receptive and I went on a visit and loved the school, loved her, so, I'm really excited to be there and I can't wait for next summer."
