Cleveland Browns reopen team facility, place G Chris Hubbard on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Browns are resuming practice on Friday afternoon as they prepare to host Houston on Sunday.

BEREA, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns have announced that they have reopened their team facility in Berea following a member of the team testing positive for COVID-19

The Browns will be back on the practice field on Friday afternoon as they prepare to battle the Texans at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday.

Offensive lineman Chris Hubbard has been placed on the team's Reserve/COVID-19 list. The category was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.

Per agreed upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on player's medical status other than referring to roster status. Clubs may not disclose whether player is in quarantine or is positive for COVID-19.

The Browns announced the news of the positive COVID-19 test with the following statement Friday morning:

“Earlier this morning, the Cleveland Browns were informed that a player’s test results have come back positive for COVID-19. The individual has immediately self-isolated and the Browns facility is closed this morning while contact tracing is being conducted. The team will continue to hold meetings remotely (part of the NFL-NFLPA intensive protocol) and will consult with the league and medical experts on the appropriate next steps as the health and safety of our players, coaches, staff and the entire community remains our highest priority.”

The Browns are currently slated to battle the Texans at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday.
