Cleveland Indians pitcher Zach Plesac goes one-on-one with 3News' Nick Camino

The Tribe will hold their first official full-squad workout Monday in Goodyear, Arizona.

CLEVELAND — Spring training is underway for Major League Baseball and on Monday the Cleveland Indians will hold their first official full-squad workout in Goodyear, Ariz. at the club's player development complex.

Prior to the first full-squad workout, Tribe right-hander Zach Plesac joined 3News Sports Anchor Nick Camino to talk about Shane Bieber, who was delayed in joining the team in spring camp due to a bout with COVID-19, daily protocols required of MLB players, the upcoming 2021 season and even his skills as a basketball player.

Plesac, 26, is expected to be an important piece in the Tribe's starting pitching rotation alongside Bieber, Aaron Civale and Triston McKenzie after going 4-2 last season with an ERA of 2.28.

Plesac put together 55.1 ip and struck out 57 batters.

Plesac, who played basketball and football prior to pitching at Ball State, also talked to Camino about his skills on the hardwood.

Plesac confirmed that he's probably the best basketball player on the Indians club.

Plesac is the nephew of former Major League pitcher Dan Plesac.

The Indians play their first Cactus League exhibition game on Sunday in Goodyear against the Cincinnati Reds. 

The Tribe opens the 2021 regular season on April 1st in Detroit against the Tigers.  Cleveland's home opener is Monday, April 5th against the Kansas City Royals.
