TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Two of the area's oldest performing arts institutions are combining forces.

The Toledo Symphony and Toledo Ballet are working together, building on 153 years of performing arts history.

The merged organization will be known as Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts-, for short TAPA.

"By coming together we can synergize those things so we can create something that you always want to go into these organizational partnerships with something that's bigger than the sum of its parts and I think we'll be able to do that very nicely," explained Zak Vassar, the president and CEO of the Toledo Symphony.

The Symphony and Ballet will operate as sibling brands under the TAPA umbrella.

The new non-profit organization is expected to be in place January 1st, 2019.
