Toledo pastor facing sex trafficking charges seeks bail

A local pastor facing federal child sex trafficking charges appeared in federal court Wednesday.

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - A local pastor facing federal child sex trafficking charges appeared in federal court Wednesday.

Cordell Jenkins filed a motion to request bail earlier this month. Before the hearing, attorneys for both sides met with the judge and the hearing was suspended.

Meanwhile, Jenkins showed odd behavior in the courtroom. Jenkins appeared to smile or talk to himself before the hearing was set to begin. Then, before he was led away in handcuffs, Jenkins raised his arms and began to sing. Supporters in the courtroom also raised their arms and hummed along.

The judge did not set a date for a new hearing.

If bail is approved, Jenkins will need to follow strict conditions until his trial date, which includes wearing a tracking device.

Jenkins's co-defendant, Anthony Haynes, will appear in court next week.
