Owens Community College partners with University of Findlay

"Oiler Express" program will help students transfer from OCC to UF seamlessly

FINDLAY, Ohio — Another local four-year university is partnering with Owens Community College to make transferring easier for students.

The Express Program at Owens Community College partners with four-year universities to allow students to declare right away that they intend on transferring from Owens after two years.

This allows the two schools to prepare in advance for the  student transfer, make sure the students, while at Owens are following their chosen degree path, and will make the transfer process seamless after two years.

The fourth and latest Express partner is now the University of Findlay with the Oiler Express.

And with a Findlay Owens campus, this now allows students not in the greater Toledo Area to participate as well.

Megan Schmidbauer, assistant dean of Admissions at Owens says partnerships like these between multiple colleges is a sign that higher education is listening and adapting to their students needs.

"The landscape of higher education today versus what it was 20 to 25 years ago is very different. It's very collaborative. And so what you're seeing now is partners saying 'Maybe the best spot for you to start would be to consider your local community college for X-Y-Z reasons' So, they are comfortable saying that," said Schmidbauer.

And if you are interested in signing up for the new Oilers Express program at Owens Community College, new students can complete that process during their enrollment period, and current students can simply visit the Owens admissions office.
