TOLEDO (WTOL) - Buckeye Health Plan is giving back when some families need it most.

Four hundred hams and 100 turkeys are being given out to 13 community based organizations in the Toledo area.

This is part of Buckeye Health Plan’s “Operation Feed the Hungry.”

Toledo is one of 12 cities in the program, the donation totaling almost 50,000 pounds of food that was donated through 130 community-based organizations statewide.

“This is our way of giving back and helping the community one person at a time," said Lavelle Betts, a supervisor at Buckeye Health Plan.

Operation Feed the Hungry has been going strong and feeding many for the past eight years.
