Des Moines Register endorses Warren as Democrats make last-minute Iowa push

Sen. Elizabeth Warren got one of Iowa's most coveted endorsements ahead of the state's caucuses.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Senate's impeachment trial has wrapped up its Saturday business, and that's freed several presidential candidates from Washington for the weekend.

Greeting Sen. Elizabeth Warren in Iowa was one of the state's most coveted endorsements. The Des Moines Register is calling the Massachusetts Democrat “the best leader for these times.”

The paper adds that Warren “is not the radical some perceive her to be,” and says she “has proven she is tough and fearless.”

Warren as well as Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota plan town halls, rallies and concerts across Iowa to keep their supporters motivated. They're among candidates making a last-minute blitz of campaigning before the state's caucuses kick off the battle for the Democratic nomination.

They'll join former Vice President Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who don't have Senate obligations.
