TOLEDO (WTOL) - Ice jams and flooding have been a problem in our area as of late, especially in Side Cut Metropark in Maumee.

The Maumee Police Department says the road in Side Cut remains closed on River Road between Ford and Jerome.

Due to dangerous driving conditions in the area, the department says citations will be issued for drivers going around the road closed barriers.

According to state law, “no person shall operate a vehicle on or onto a public street or highway that is temporarily covered by a rise in water level, including groundwater or an overflow of water, and that is clearly marked by a sign that specifies that the road is closed due to the rise in water level.”

Those who do could be fined up to $2,000.

The road is expected to be closed for at least a week until city crews can inspect and repair the damaged roadway.
