TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police said the noncustodial mother of a child who was remanded to the custody of Children Services was found.

Police say that Asia Valdez was refusing to surrender her daughter, Amera Austin.

Children Services spokesperson Julie Malkin said the child was found in Lenawee County but could not say whether mother and daughter were together. She did say they were safe.

It's unclear if the mother will face any charges.
