TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Lucas County Public Library will be offering curbside pickup for new materials starting June 8. Their branches are currently still closed due to coronavirus concerns.

The library's leadership will assess when it is safe to open their locations to the public.

They have new safety and social distancing protocols already in place to protect both the employees and the public, including installing plexiglass and moving computers farther apart.

The library board also decided Thursday to cut staff hours in order to help them overcome the $4.5 million deficit and prevent employee layoffs.

"We have 20 locations throughout the country covering almost 600,000-square feet and we have 400 employees, so our slow-phased approach to reopen helps us make sure that we're bringing staff back safely, but also helping make sure our spaces are safe for the community," said library director Jason Kuscma.
