Toledo leaders to announce expansion of CVS safe medication disposal program

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and Chief of Police George Kral, will be joined by CVS Pharmacy representatives on Wednesday to announce the expansion of the company's safe medication disposal program in Ohio.

The program is designed to address the diversion and misuse of unneeded prescription medication, including opioids. The expansion will add drug disposal units to 53 CVS stores across the state. The cities impacted are Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo and Youngstown.

The official announcement will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the CVS located at 2104 S. Byrne Road.
