Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seize over $45,000 in drugs during traffic stop in Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — A California man is facing drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized $45,775 worth of cocaine and marijuana during a traffic stop in Summit County.

The traffic stop happened on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 10:51 a.m. when troopers pulled over a 2020 Chevrolet Impala for a following-too-close violation on the Ohio Turnpike.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say "criminal indicators were observed," during the traffic stop. Troopers seized 508 grams of cocaine and 2 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $45,775 during the stop. 

60-year-old Edward Hanserd was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking in cocaine and possession of marijuana. 

If Hanserd is convicted, he could face up to 23 years in prison and a fine of $42,500.
