TOLEDO (WTOL) - One person is dead and three were injured Monday morning in a crash on southbound I-280.

The crash happened on SB I-280 in Oregon near Mercy St. Charles Hospital around 7:50 a.m.

According to Toledo Police, 43-year-old April Bowser of Maumee died as a result of the accident. Bowser’s car was stopped in a line of backed up traffic in the right lane at I-280 south and Navarre.

Her vehicle was hit from behind from by an approaching vehicle and was forced into the center lane, where it was struck by a passing semitrailer.

Bowser was trapped and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Three other drivers were injured.

Police said seven cars and one semi-truck were involved, and traffic investigators continue to gather evidence.

Toledo police said the investigation is in the ongoing stages and charges are pending.
