Toledo police and firefighters are on scene of a water rescue in south Toledo. There is no word on if anyone is inside the car.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - Toledo police say two bodies have been recovered after a crash into a creek in south Toledo.

Police say they recovered the bodies of 21-year-old Jesse Michalak and 19-year-old Charles Quinn after a vehicle crashed into Swan Creek Thursday night.

Their family has been notified. It is unclear who was the driver. Police say they were found underneath the vehicle.

Crews responded on reports of a car in a creek on the 1000 block of Fries Avenue near Byrne Rd. around 9 p.m.

After searching until about 11:15 p.m., crews did not find a body in the car and were trying to determine if anyone was thrown from the car.

Family members tell us they continued to search all night and eventually found a body in the area around the car that a mother believes is her son.

Police say another body was also recovered after a Friday morning search.

Crews say they are working to remove the car from the scene.

“We’re trying to get the car up just on the bank and just do a thorough check for if there’s anything else in there, but it’s a dangerous situation because of the location of the vehicle,” said Deputy Chief Rick Syroka.

Lt. Kevan Toney of Toledo police says it looks as if the driver made no attempt to brake.

He says this is being investigated as a deadly traffic crash.
