Perrysburg's Social gastropub declared total loss after fire Thursday

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Perrysburg officials say Social Gastropub is a total loss after a fire started Thursday afternoon.

Authorities Friday said the cause of the blaze still is under investigation.

Firefighters said Thursday that fire started outside the restaurant and worked its way inside. Employees tried to put the fire out, but were unsuccessful. Everyone was able to get out of the building without any injuries.

The blaze was reported around 2 p.m. Witnesses on the scene report that flames could be seen coming out of the roof of the popular eatery shortly after 2 p.m..

By the time Perrysburg fire arrived, the restaurant was fully engulfed and the roof was starting to collapse. A cause has not yet been determined.

Around 3:30 p.m. a city spokeswoman said there were no injuries, but the building is a total loss. At least a portion of the roof appeared to have caved in late Thursday.

Gradkowski's Dining and Spirits, a venture that includes University of Toledo alum and former Pittsburgh Steeler Bruce Gradkowski, opened the restaurant in 2013.
