TOLEDO (WTOL) - Susan G. Komen of Northwest Ohio has been working tirelessly for years at their mission to end breast cancer.
Along the way countless people have joined them in their fight, including male breast cancer survivor and author Dr. Wayne Dornan.
A Susan G. Komen National Scholar, Dr. Dornan is set to speak at Komen’s Power of the Promise event to discuss his role as a national breast cancer research advocate.
Dr. Dornan will also describe the struggles he has been through as not only a breast cancer survivor, but as a male survivor of a cancer that more commonly strikes women.
Dornan says there will be approximately 5,000 male breast cancer diagnoses this year, compared to 357,000 for women.
Tickets are available for $75 to listen to Dr. Dornan speak at The Pinnacle in Maumee on April 11.
The Power of the Promise event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.
