COLUMBUS, Ohio — The unemployment rate in Ohio dropped to 8.9% in July, which the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said is down from a revised 11% in June.
This is less than the U.S. unemployment rate of 10.2% last month.
The state reported Thursday that more than 21,000 unemployment claims were filed for the week ending with August 8.
ODJFS said the number of unemployed Ohioans decreased to 503,000, down from 636,000 in June.
The unemployment rate in Ohio in July 2019 was 4.2%.
