Sports betting is now legal in Ohio. Here's how you can place your bets

There are over a dozen online options approved in Ohio, as well as physical sportsbooks and kiosks throughout the state.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Have you heard sports betting is legal in Ohio?

In case you somehow missed the avalanche of advertisements, yes, you now have many ways to gamble on sports. House Bill 29 passed in December 2021 and cleared the way for legalized wagering in the Buckeye State starting Jan. 1 of this year.

Here's how and where you can place your bets:

MOBILE

There are several applications available on Apple and Android devices allowing you to bet on everything from point spreads in football games to how many rebounds your favorite NBA player will collect in his next game. 

Most online sportsbooks will allow you to make deposits using a credit or debit card or a direct transfer from your bank account. Some accept deposits from apps like Venmo and PayPal.

PHYSICAL SPORTSBOOKS

You can also visit one of several retail locations around the state, including the Barstool Sportsbook at Hollywood Casino Toledo.

  • Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway (Barstool and BetRivers)
  • Scioto Downs (Caesars Ohio)
  • Hollywood Casino Columbus (Barstool)
  • Belterra Park Cincinnati (FanDuel)
  • MGM Northfield Park (BetMGM)

KIOSKS

The Ohio Casino Control Commission has approved over 1,000 businesses to install betting kiosks inside the venue. These businesses include bars, super markets, bowling alleys and other establishments. 

Bettors are limited to wagering on point spreads, parlays, over/unders and moneylines when using these machines, and can bet a maximum of $700 per week.
