No evidence of crash found where witnesses say a plane went into Ottawa River

After crews searched the area twice, they were unable to find a plane or any other indication of a crash.

OHIO, USA — Following a second search, crews found no evidence of a crash after receiving reports of a plane going into the Ottawa River.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Monday near 287 Street in Point Place.

Calm waters with depths of approximately three to five feet allowed crews to search a large area from where the aircraft was thought to have gone down.

The initial search was called off after two hours around 4:30 a.m. Crews completed multiple search patterns with no evidence of aircraft debris.

Toledo Fire and Rescue announced that an additional search would be conducted at 7-7:30 a.m. But, after using sonar, that search also failed to yield results.

No firefighter or civilian injuries have been reported in relation to the incident.
