SANDUSKY COUNTY, Ohio — A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after hitting a mailbox and a parked car in Sandusky Township.

The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday on Everett Road.

Police say 65-year-old Victor Polter of Fremont was driving a GMC pick-up truck when he went off the side of the road and hit the mailbox and pole.

Police say Polter was found unresponsive when first responders arrived to the scene.

Polter was taken to Fremont ProMedica Hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition, according to police.

Police say Polter was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
