HOLLAND, Ohio — Five-time Olympic Gold medalist Missy Franklin will be in Holland next Sunday to speak on the importance of learning to swim.

The event will be at the SafeSplash + SwimLabs at 1 p.m., and attendees will have a chance to interact with the swimmer during a meet and greet followed by a water safety talk, tour of the place and swim tips from Franklin.

Aside from winning five Olympic Gold medals, Franklin is a world record holder.

Missy was first exposed to swimming in a "parent and me" type of class with her mother, who did not know how to swim. Her mom's fear of the water and not knowing how to swim made it a priority for her to introduce Missy to the water and learn to swim at a young age.

Missy began partnering with SafeSplash in 2016, and her collaboration includes developing swim lesson curriculum, technique videos in the SwimLabs Champion's library for video analysis and promoting the importance of learning to swim as a life skill.
