First Alert Meteorologist Kelly Heidbreder wins Emmy for live weather coverage

Kelly brought home the award Saturday night for her outstanding coverage out in the field.

CLEVELAND — WTOL's own First Alert Meteorologist Kelly Heidbreder won an Emmy Saturday night for her live coverage out in the field.

Kelly returned to WTOL in 2017. Her media experience is broad, spanning from television to print. Kelly is from the small town of Riga, just north of the Michigan-Ohio border and her excitement for journalism, weather and gardening sprouted right in southeast Michigan. 

WTOL is part of the Lower Great Lakes chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. According to its website, their mission is to "serve its members, recognize excellence and promote the highest standards in television professionalism."
