7 fire departments fight house fire in Bedford; residents, pets get out safely

Bedford Township Fire Department Chief says there was significant damage to inside the home.

BEDFORD CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Seven fire departments responded to a house fire in Bedford Township Sunday morning. 

House occupants were able to safely escape while firefighters managed to save two cats inside the home. 

Crews responded to the 2100 block of W. Erie Road, where they had to close the road on both directions for a few hours. 

Bedford Township Fire Department Chief says there was significant damage to inside the home. 

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. 

No one was injured.
